As a retired Schoolteacher living in Tenerife, and having spent a number of years discovering paths and tracks all over the island ideal for walking, the beauty of which never fails to enchant me, the need to share this with others became a dream, and so “StarTrex” was born.
Walks take place in the West,North West,South,South East, and of course Central -the Volcanic Region- and I am now looking at areas in the North East. I also lead walks on La Palma.
If I am leading a group of more than 5 people, we would use the very good local Titsa bus service, if only 4 or 5, we would use my People Carrier.
StarTrex, the business remains small and friendly and totally flexible to your needs and requirements. I am able to lead walks which are suitable to your ability and wishes. It could be a day walk , or a two day walk with an overnight stay at a hostel in the National Park area. We will discuss the level of difficulty and length of walk when you book, a walk can take between 2 and 5hrs. the choice is yours.
Depending on the month, you may see almonds growing, oranges, figs, prickly pears, and of course, bananas. The flowers and trees are beautiful throughout the year. From my years living in Tenerife, I am able to give you information on many aspects of nature and the history of Tenerife. I pride myself on an individual and friendly service.
My Background: I qualified as a mountain leader in the UK. and walked extensively there. I spent 8 wonderful weeks in the North of India trekking this section of the Himalayas. An amazing experience!
As a teacher of Comprehensive School children, along with my subject teaching, my great love was organising and running outdoor residential trips in the Brecon Beacons. I was also an Assessor of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. I took great joy in organising school ski-trips all over Europe and Canada. Sailing is another of my great interests, I spent 5 months sailing from Tenerife to Britain , via Madeira, Gibralter and the Spanish coast and up through the French Canals. Another amazing experience!
Now my passion is Tenerife and walking here on this enchanting, inspirational Island.
